Background/Expertise
Jordan joined Ford Sumner Lawyers in 2021, after several years practicing at a full-service law firm in Wellington. He has a broad range of legal experience across commercial, corporate, employment, trust and private client matters.
At Ford Sumner Lawyers, Jordan works across our commercial and corporate practice with particular focus and expertise in commercial leasing matters.
Jordan advises clients on all aspects of commercial leasing, including complex design and build projects, airport estate leasing and licensing arrangements, earthquake strengthening issues, and dispute resolution between landlords and tenants. Jordan’s commercial property expertise is regularly sought out by government agencies, airports and landlords with large national property portfolios.
Jordan’s practice also encompasses wider property (including construction), company, trust, not-for-profit and general commercial contracting matters. He has particular experience acting for clients in the aviation, hospitality/retail, real estate, property and not-for-profit sectors. Jordan’s employment background, which included assisting clients navigating a variety of workplace matters, also means he is well placed to provide clients with wraparound support and advice on transactional matters with employment elements.
Having represented clients in a number of courts and specialist tribunals, Jordan appreciates the cost and strain inherent in litigation and he focuses on providing clients with sound, pragmatic advice to resolve issues early and effectively.
In addition to his role at Ford Sumner Lawyers, Jordan is also Honorary Solicitor for Bowls Wellington and regularly assists the organisation’s board with a range of governance and contracting matters.

At Ford Sumner, Jordan primarily works across our commercial and corporate practice with a strong focus on property, company, construction, trade business and private client matters. He has particular expertise acting for clients in the aviation, hospitality, real estate, property, education, construction and representative industry association sectors.
Jordan’s expertise extends to employment law where he regularly assists clients navigating a variety of workplace issues including performance management, restructuring, employee share schemes and immigration. Jordan has participated in mediations and has experience in conducting and advising on workplace investigations and disciplinary processes.
An experienced advocate, Jordan has represented clients in the District, Family and High Courts and in the Employment Relations Authority and Human Rights Review Tribunal.
Jordan’s wide-ranging legal experience enables him to appreciate the demands and challenges faced by Ford Sumner’s clients and deliver sound, pragmatic, and solution-focused advice. Jordan keeps a keen eye on legal developments and is a regular contributor to industry association newsletters, as well as Ford Sumner’s legal updates.
Outside of work, Jordan prioritises staying active and values quality time with family.
