Background/Expertise

Rebecca is an experienced lawyer with a strong background in construction law, offering a proven track record of advising clients across both commercial and residential sectors. Admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2017, she has developed a comprehensive understanding of the legal frameworks governing construction projects, with expertise in contract drafting, contract negotiation, risk management, and dispute resolution.

 

Before joining Ford Sumner Lawyers, Rebecca spent three years based in London, further broadening her international legal experience and deepening her understanding of global construction standards and practices.

 

Her work has primarily focused on providing strategic legal and commercial advice, drafting and amending a wide range of construction contracts (including NZS, FIDIC, JCT, and NEC forms for contract), and providing project advisory support throughout the lifecycle of construction projects.  Rebecca also assists clients with resolving construction disputes, helping parties work through contract issues, delays, and claims efficiently.

 

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys hosting dinner parties for family and friends, as well as being in the outdoors, playing golf, cycling, mountain biking and fishing.
